Colleen Ishimaru | Children Minister
Colleen began her work in ministry over 25 years ago when she first came to Community Baptist Church (now Journey of Faith) in Manhattan Beach, CA. She responded to an announcement in the church bulletin one day for a position in
the children’s Sunday School class. She rushed home to call the superintendent, hoping that the position would not be filled by someone else. Little did she know that the announcement had been in the bulletin for weeks. Since that time, Colleen has been dedicated to seeing children and youth come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior and continue in their faith in service to Him. In 1997, Colleen became interested in the work of Child Evangelism Fellowship, a ministry also dedicated to reaching boys and girls for Christ and served with CEF for over 20 years.
Colleen has served in children’s ministries in all the churches she has attended in a variety of positions, both paid and volunteered. She especially is a huge supporter of the Awana program and was thrilled to learn that Golden Gate Christian Church sponsored this ministry. Colleen has a Bachelor’s degree from Biola University and a graduate of the Children’s Ministries Institute. She has been married to Si for almost 30 years and has 7 children and 5 grandchildren. She is truly blessed to serve at a Bible believing, mission-minded church, where children are a priority.
