The political instability in Myanmar
The country has had little peace since the Japanese invasion of WWII, in 1942. By 1948, Burma claimed its independence from Britain as a Federal Union. Popular demands for democratic rule opened the way for elections in 1990. Although the opposition party won 85% of the seats, the military regime refused to hand over power. The secretive military junta, has turned Myanmar into a prison with widespread human rights abuses and killings etc. In 2011, the military junta was officially dissolved, following a general election from 2010. Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners helped to improve the country’s political condition. In February 1, 2021, the military again seized power in a coup.
How could we pray?
Pray that the tensions between the military and the government would be resolved peacefully. Pray that a democratically elected government would be put in place instead of military rule.

自1942年二戰日本入侵以來，緬甸幾乎沒有太平過。1948年，緬甸宣布脫離英國獨立，成為聯邦。1990年，爭取民主的民眾終於迎來大選。雖然反對黨贏得了85%的席位，但軍政府拒絕交出權力。秘密的軍政府將緬甸變成了監獄，到處都是侵害人權和殺戮等事件。同時，昂山素季和其他政治犯一直致力改善國家的政治格局。 2010年，緬甸舉行大選，民主政府上台，隨後軍政府於2011年正式解散。2021年2月1日，軍方再次通過政變奪取政權。
